The files (XRechnung XML and ZUGFeRD PDF/A-3) follow EN 16931 and were checked against the official rules during development. This is not legal or tax advice – ask your tax advisor if you are unsure.
Help & info
What you get
You get two files: an XRechnung 3.0 file (XML) for authorities and software, and a ZUGFeRD PDF – a normal, readable invoice with the same data embedded as XML (profile EN 16931, PDF/A-3). Both follow EN 16931. Companies mostly expect the PDF, authorities usually want the XML. You see the invoice as the recipient will see it.
What an e-invoice needs
Besides the usual invoice details, XRechnung requires a contact person with phone and email for the sender, an email address for the recipient, a buyer reference (the Leitweg-ID for authorities) and payment details. The form tells you what is still missing.
Before you send it
Open the file once with “Check in the viewer”. Send the XML by email or upload it to the recipient’s portal. Authorities usually name the channel they accept. Keep a copy: invoices must be archived in a machine-readable form.
